KinoFest 2026 German Film Week to tour five Vietnamese cities
The KinoFest 2026 German Film Week will take place from November 5 to December 31, 2026, across five major Vietnamese cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Hue, and Da Nang. The festival will showcase eight selected German films that explore themes of freedom, identity, family, and social connection.
Featured works include ‘Yellow Letters’ by director İlker Çatak, which won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2026 Berlinale, and ‘Rose’ by Markus Schleinzer, featuring Sandra Hüller, who received the Silver Bear for Best Actress. Other notable films include ‘Silent Friend’ by Ildikó Enyedi, which was part of the Venice Film Festival 2025, and ‘Gotteskinder’ by Frauke Lodders, a winner at the 2024 Warsaw Film Festival.
The festival aims to connect Vietnamese and German audiences through cinema, providing a lens into contemporary German society, including topics such as class, gender, immigration, and socio-political shifts.
