Kinoteka Makedonija marks World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

The Kinoteka Makedonija will observe World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on October 27 with events dedicated to preserving Macedonian cinema. The program includes a promotion for the Blu-ray release of the 1967 film ‘Makedonska krvava svadba’, directed by Trajche Popov. This film was digitized in 2025 as part of the ‘Season of Film Classics’ project, coordinated by the Association of European Cinemas and supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe MEDIA program.

In the evening, the cinema will screen the film ‘Tetoviranje’ to commemorate the 35th anniversary of its premiere and the 80th anniversary of the birth of actor Meto Jovanovski. These screenings conclude a month-long series of celebrations focused on Macedonian cinematic classics and anniversaries. The observance aligns with UNESCO recommendations established in 1980 and 2015 regarding the protection and accessibility of audiovisual and documentary heritage.
