Kinshasa implements digital reforms and resumes vehicle inspections

In Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is pursuing several administrative and logistical updates. The provincial Ministry of Planning, Budget, and Transport is exploring a partnership with Africell RDC to digitize urban services. Key objectives include the digitalization of administration and finances to improve the traceability of provincial revenues, as well as modernizing parking management for taxis and motorcycles.

Additionally, the Kinshasa City Hall has announced the resumption of systematic vehicle technical inspections starting October 15, 2026. This measure aims to prevent traffic accidents and improve urban transport safety. Vehicles found without valid certificates or with manifest technical failures may face immediate immobilization or impoundment.

Regarding fuel supplies, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons has addressed concerns over long queues at service stations in Kinshasa. The Ministry stated that fuel stocks are ‘largely sufficient’ to meet the capital's needs and urged the public not to mistake local station queues for a general shortage.
