Kinshasa mandates end of all kermesse activities by August 29

The Kinshasa provincial government has mandated that all kermesse activities must conclude by August 29, 2026. This decision, issued by the provincial ministry of Youth, Sports, Leisure, Culture and Arts, is intended to ensure public order, security, and sanitation ahead of the upcoming school year.

With the 2026-2027 academic year scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026, authorities aim to provide students, parents, and educators with a calm and clean environment for school preparations. Provincial Minister Amisso Yoka Lumbila Bob emphasized that organizers are required to fully clean their sites, evacuate waste, and restore the premises to their original state upon the closure of activities.

Relevant provincial services, including those responsible for the environment and urban beautification, will monitor compliance. Administrative measures may be taken against those who fail to adhere to these sanitation and safety regulations.
