Kinshasa President launches Étienne Tshisekedi Boulevard construction
President Félix Tshisekedi has officially launched construction on the Étienne Tshisekedi wa Mulumba Boulevard in Kinshasa. The new 2,020-meter road infrastructure is designed to alleviate heavy traffic congestion within the capital.
The project will extend the Boulevard Triomphal through Camp Kokolo to Bakayau in the Bandalungwa commune. According to Kinshasa Governor Daniel Bumba Lubaki, the boulevard will feature eight lanes of traffic—four in each direction—to increase capacity.
Technical specifications for the project include the construction of a frame bridge over the Basoko River, a 1,140-meter drainage canal, and an access road to the Ministry of Defense. To ensure modern urban standards, the development will also incorporate paved sidewalks, bus stops, modern street lighting, comprehensive road signaling, and landscaped central medians.
