Kinshasa to host major dance and comics festivals in September 2026

Kinshasa is set to host two major cultural events in September 2026. The sixth edition of the Bosangani International Dance Festival will run from September 7 to September 14. Initiated by choreographer Jolie Ngemi, the festival focuses on the theme ‘Our riches and our values,’ aiming to highlight the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s natural and cultural assets, including music, dance, and traditional crafts.

Simultaneously, the SABDAM comics festival returns to the Academie des Beaux-Arts from September 11 to 13, marking its first edition since 2019. Organized by ACRIA and chaired by cartoonist Barly Baruti, the event features Senegal as the guest of honor. The festival aims to establish a three-country comics corridor linking Kinshasa, Dakar, and Tetouan.
