KIO Data Centers announces $1.3 billion expansion in Mexico
KIO Data Centers has announced a major expansion of its digital infrastructure in Mexico, highlighted by a planned investment of approximately $1.3 billion USD for its QRO3 project in Querétaro. This expansion aims to meet the rising demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The QRO3 project is expected to be the largest data center in the company’s history, with an estimated capacity of 100 MW. This initiative is projected to create more than 8,100 direct and indirect specialized jobs. The announcement was supported by Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González and Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón.
In addition to the long-term QRO3 project, KIO plans to invest over $200 million USD in 2026 to strengthen infrastructure in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Querétaro. This follows a broader $900 million USD investment strategy implemented since I Squared Capital became a shareholder in 2022. The company is also continuing work on its QRO2 project, having already allocated $170 million USD to its second and third phases.
