Kioxia and SanDisk to invest over US$ 31 billion in Japan
Kioxia Corporation and SanDisk Corporation have announced a plan to invest more than US$ 31 billion (approximately 5 trillion yen) in Japan through 2032. The investment, which is contingent upon government support, aims to strengthen the long-standing joint venture and expand the infrastructure of the Yokkaichi and Kitakami manufacturing facilities.
The capital is intended to boost the production of NAND flash memory to meet the rising global demand driven by artificial intelligence and data processing. This move follows a 25-year history of collaboration between the two companies, during which they have invested over US$ 50 billion in the Japanese semiconductor sector.
