Kioxia prepares US listing to target global AI memory demand

Japanese chipmaker Kioxia is preparing to list American Depositary Shares (ADS) in the United States to expand its investor base and increase liquidity. The move is seen as a strategic effort to better address investor demand within the artificial intelligence sector, specifically targeting those focused on data center and AI infrastructure.

CEO Hiroo Ota has clarified that there are currently no discussions regarding deep manufacturing cooperation or joint ventures with SK hynix, addressing recent market speculation. Kioxia is simultaneously focusing on scaling its 3D Flash technology and positioning CXL memory modules for AI workloads.

Market analysts note that a US listing could place the company in the global investment spotlight. Sebastian Thomas, a portfolio manager at Voya Investments, suggested that US trading could resolve liquidity issues for international investors looking to access Japanese companies within the AI supply chain, similar to the impact seen when SK hynix listed on the Nasdaq.
