Kioxia reports AI‑driven earnings surge as Amotech raises funds for MLCC expansion

Japanese NAND flash maker Kioxia posted first‑quarter operating profit of 1.27 trillion yen on revenue of 1.767 trillion yen, a 28‑fold YoY increase, but both metrics fell short of Bloomberg forecasts by 3.7 % and 7.3 % respectively. The company attributed the surge to strong demand for storage devices in generative‑AI data centers, higher SSD prices, rising NAND shipments and a weak yen. Kioxia expects continued growth in the second quarter, projecting revenue of about 2.39 trillion yen and operating profit of roughly 1.89 trillion yen, and announced a 3‑for‑1 stock split to be implemented on October 1.

South Korean component manufacturer Amotech confirmed a paid‑in‑capital increase of about 206 billion won, issuing 2.37 million new shares at 8,700 won each. The proceeds will be used to expand multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) production lines for AI servers, and to develop new motor and energy‑storage (ESS) products over the next three years, positioning the firm to meet rising AI data‑center component demand.
