Kioxia unveils new high-performance and high-capacity data center SSDs

Kioxia has announced new enterprise SSD developments at the Open Compute Project Global Summit, focusing on high-performance and high-capacity solutions for data centers. The company introduced its GP series, designed to meet Nvidia’s Storage-Next initiative. Utilizing third-generation XL-Flash technology, the upcoming GP series is expected to achieve over 20 million IOPS. Kioxia has also outlined a long-term roadmap aiming for an SSD with 100 million IOPS by 2028 using PCIe 7.0.

Additionally, Kioxia unveiled the LD4 series, which utilizes the E1.L form factor (often referred to as the ruler format) and eighth-generation BiCS8 QLC NAND flash. These PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSDs are designed for read-intensive hyperscale workloads in high-density 1U scale-out servers. The series is launching with capacities of 15.36TB and 30.72TB, though the architecture is validated to support up to 122.88TB.
