Kira McSpice releases new single “Wreckage” from upcoming album

New York-based gothic folk singer-songwriter Kira McSpice has released “Wreckage,” the second single from her upcoming album, The House. Scheduled for release on October 23 via Danger Collective, the album serves as the third installment in her four-part series, ‘A Return in 4 Parts.’

“Wreckage” is described as a dark chamber folk ballad and requiem featuring operatic vocals and a ghostly choir. The song explores McSpice’s childhood in Harlem, Georgia, specifically addressing themes of domestic conflict, abuse, and the grief following the death of a childhood friend.

The larger musical project was inspired by a spiritual journey facilitated by hypnotherapist Trina Merz. Through breathwork and trance, McSpice envisioned a desert journey leading to a house resembling her childhood home, a concept that forms the foundation of the four-album series.
