Kirchdorf and Mühlheim expand joint childcare and school facilities

The municipalities of Kirchdorf am Inn and Mühlheim am Inn are expanding their long-standing cooperation in childcare and education. Building on a partnership that has existed for nearly 15 years, the two communities are investing approximately 500,000 euros to increase capacity through structural improvements.

In Mühlheim, the project includes the creation of a fourth full classroom, a workshop, and redesigned spaces for all-day schooling to accommodate the growing number of students from Kirchdorf attending local schools. This construction phase is expected to be completed by February 2027.

In Kirchdorf, the former primary school will be converted to house three kindergarten groups and one nursery group, providing a total of 66 kindergarten places and 12 nursery spots. This initiative is part of a broader trend in the Ried district, where several other municipalities are pursuing similar cooperative models to optimize existing structures and expand childcare offerings.
