Kiribati research presented to students by Dr. Dariusz Zdziech
Dr. Dariusz Zdziech from the Ignatian University in Krakow delivered a lecture to students regarding his research on Kiribati, a Pacific island nation. A key focus of the presentation was the village of Poland located on the island of Kiritimati.
Dr. Zdziech is currently conducting research to determine if the local church in the village of Poland is dedicated to the Polish Jesuit, Saint Kostka, noting that a nearby bay is named after Saint Stanislaus. The lecture also highlighted that Kiribati is the only country situated across all four hemispheres.
The presentation addressed the economic challenges facing Kiribati, noting it is one of the world's poorest nations and relies on international aid, such as Japanese funding for schools. Additionally, the lecture encouraged support for the Bells of Hope Foundation, which provides bells to impoverished churches globally.
