Kirin and FANCL host summer health event in Tokyo

Kirin Holdings and FANCL held a summer health awareness event at Musashino Momiji no Mori Nursery School in Tokyo to address the health risks posed by rising summer temperatures and dehydration.

Kirin researchers presented cell experiment results indicating that high temperatures (38.5°C) and dehydration-simulated high osmotic pressure conditions can reduce the activity of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC), which are key to immune response. However, the study found that the prior addition of L. lactis plasma—the lactic acid bacteria used in Kirin’s ‘iMUSE’ products—helped suppress this decline in immune cell activity.

To assist in monitoring children, who are more vulnerable to heat due to less developed temperature regulation, FANCL demonstrated the use of temperature-indicator stickers. Developed with TOPPAN, these stickers change color when skin temperature reaches approximately 34°C, allowing caregivers to visually detect rising body temperatures in children.
