Kirin and Nihonsakari co-develop immune care functional food

Kirin Holdings and Nihonsakari Co., Ltd. have co-developed ‘Wagen Koso’, a functional food product designed to support immune health. The product is scheduled for release on September 14, 2026, through Nihonsakari’s official online shop and mail-order catalogs.

The supplement combines Kirin’s proprietary ‘Plasma Lactobacillus’ (L. lactis strain Plasma) with plant fermentation extracts developed using Nihonsakari’s 130-year fermentation expertise. The plant extract is derived from over 130 types of materials, including vegetables, fruits, wild grasses, and seaweed, which are fermented and aged for two years without the addition of water.

Plasma Lactobacillus is reported to act on plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) to help maintain immune function in healthy individuals. The product will be sold in 31-day supplies (93 capsules) for 4,940 yen (including tax).
