Kirishima Shuzo announces limited 110th-anniversary shochu set
Kirishima Shuzo has announced the limited release of a special sweet potato shochu set, ‘Hyakujuju’, to commemorate its 110th anniversary. Starting October 8, 2026, the set will feature two distinct varieties: ‘Uzumon’ and ‘Yuteki’.
‘Uzumon’ is a traditional shochu utilizing ‘Kuro Kirishima’ that has undergone 17 years of jar aging. ‘Yuteki’ is a high-concentration blend featuring ‘KIRISHIMA No. 8’, a variety developed through the company’s own seed breeding.
The bottle designs are supervised by the Inoue Manji Kiln, featuring techniques from Living National Treasures. The ‘Uzumon’ bottle incorporates the ‘Uzumon’ pattern supervised by the late Manji Inoue, while the ‘Yuteki’ bottle features the ‘Yuteki’ glaze technique supervised by Yuki Inoue.
