During joint training camp practices between the Houston Texans and the Las Vegas Raiders, several physical altercations occurred involving key players. Kirk Cousins expressed frustration after being hit in the arm during a Texans defensive play, noting that while he welcomes body contact to simulate game conditions, contact to the extremities like the elbow poses a risk of injury. Cousins referenced a previous scuffle with Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby to explain his reaction.

In a separate incident during the same joint sessions, Texans rookie guard Keylan Rutledge engaged in a heated scuffle with Maxx Crosby. Rutledge described the altercation as part of the competitive nature of training camp, stating he was simply “playing through the whistle.”

Following these practices, the two teams met in a preseason game where the Las Vegas Raiders secured a 22-20 comeback victory over the Texans.
