Kirk Franklin releases new gospel track ‘This Time’ with GloRilla

Gospel artist Kirk Franklin has released a new collaboration titled ‘This Time’ featuring Memphis rapper GloRilla. The track, which samples Mandrill’s 1972 record ‘Children of the Sun’, combines choir-driven gospel with hip-hop elements and focuses on themes of faith and perseverance.

The song is part of Franklin’s upcoming double album, ‘I Am What I Am’, scheduled for release on October 30. The project will consist of 14 songs, divided equally between contemporary and traditional gospel styles, featuring seven live church recordings and seven studio tracks.

In discussions regarding the new project, Franklin noted that the album title reflects his journey of accepting all aspects of his life and career. He emphasized that his creative process involves seeking authentic connections with collaborators and maintaining his belief that faith should not limit artistic excellence.
