Kirk Hammett discusses guitar collection at London book event

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett has released official video of a live discussion held at the EartH Theatre in London to celebrate the launch of his new coffee table book, ‘The Collection: Kirk Hammett’. The event featured an intimate conversation with Kerrang! magazine editor Phil Alexander, covering Hammett’s music career and his extensive guitar collection.

During the event, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo joined Hammett on stage for a surprise jam session. The book provides a detailed look at Hammett’s instruments, including his 1979 Gibson Flying V and the legendary 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard known as ‘Greeny’.

The London appearance was part of the band’s 2026 ‘M72’ European tour activities. Hammett also reflected on the band’s early history in London, noting that during their first visits in the early 1980s, they spent significant time experiencing local pub culture.
