Kirklees Council opens public consultation on new Local Plan

Kirklees Council has launched a four-week public consultation regarding the district’s new Local Plan. The consultation, which began on August 13 and runs until September 11, serves as a planning blueprint to determine how land across the district will be utilized.

The plan aims to guide decisions concerning housing, employment, transport, community facilities, and the management of both built and natural environments. Deputy Leader Mark Smith stated that the plan is intended to shape the future of Kirklees by influencing infrastructure and job provision while protecting green spaces. Feedback from residents, businesses, and stakeholders will help inform the next draft of the plan, including proposed planning policies and development options.
