Kishanganj police constable dies by suicide at station

A police constable, identified as 35-year-old Sameer Kumar, allegedly committed suicide using his service pistol at the Sadar police station premises in Kishanganj, Bihar, on Sunday morning.

Kumar, a resident of Bhagalpur, was in his barracks when the incident occurred. After hearing the gunshot, fellow officers rushed him to the Sadar Hospital, where he died during treatment. Preliminary reports suggest that Kumar had been in contact with his family via mobile phone shortly before the act.

Local authorities, including SDPO-1 Khusro Siraj, have confirmed the incident. While the exact motive remains unclear, police sources indicate there may have been recent disputes with his family. An investigation is currently underway, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
