Kiss band rights sold to Pophouse, limiting future performances

Gene Simmons has revealed that the rock band Kiss can no longer perform live without the permission of Pophouse, the company that purchased the band's rights. The sale included the band's makeup, music, and publishing.

Simmons explained in an interview with Detroit's WCSX that while the sale was a significant financial decision, the partnership with Pophouse will involve future projects such as a motion picture, cartoon shows, and a theme park.

To continue performing on stage, Simmons has formed the Gene Simmons Band. He noted that he felt a need to stay active in live music following the conclusion of Kiss's End of the Road World Tour on December 2, 2023.
