Kiss develops virtual avatar concert experience for 2028

The rock band Kiss is developing a next-generation avatar-based virtual concert experience, projected to launch in 2028. The project is being spearheaded by Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment, which acquired the band’s intellectual property, including their music, publishing, and iconic makeup.

To create the experience, Pophouse is collaborating with Industrial Light & Magic, the visual effects company founded by George Lucas. The production aims to build upon the success of the ABBA Voyage hologram show, though guitarist Tommy Thayer suggests that advancements in technology over the last few years will allow the Kiss show to reach a higher level of immersion.

Bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons confirmed that new music has already been recorded for the project. Thayer described the upcoming production as a ‘mind-boggling live experience’ that will function as a virtual version of the band.
