During the event, Simmons reportedly threw four pitches before successfully completing the task.

The Los Angeles Angels utilized the moment for social media engagement, posting a joke regarding Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. The team’s post on X referenced the viral memes surrounding Daniels’ legal dispute with LSU over his former jersey number, stating, “He asked to throw a 5th pitch but we had to say no out of respect for Jayden Daniels.”
