KissanPay agri-fintech platform launches in Pakistan
Kissan Gudam and aik by BankIslami have launched KissanPay, Pakistan’s first Shariah-compliant agri-fintech platform. The service was inaugurated at the Pakistan Agriculture Connections Expo 2026 by State Bank of Pakistan Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah and Ahmed Umair, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Agriculture and Food Security.
The platform integrates Kissan Gudam’s warehousing infrastructure with aik by BankIslami’s Banking-as-a-Service framework. This allows farmers to access interest-free financing by using their stored harvests as collateral. By utilizing Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWR), the system can disburse up to 70% of a commodity's value within 45 minutes.
The initiative aims to prevent distress sales, where farmers are forced to sell crops at low prices during harvest due to a lack of liquidity. Instead, farmers can store their grain in Kissan Gudam facilities and receive working capital quickly to fund subsequent crop cycles, waiting to sell their stored commodities when market prices improve.
