Kisumu to host 2026 African Cycling Championship

Kisumu, Kenya, is set to host the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Championship from October 21 to 25. The event is expected to draw more than 300 elite cyclists representing over 30 African nations to compete across 15 different race categories.

The championships will feature competitions in individual time trials, mixed team relays, and mass-start road races for junior, under-23, and elite categories for both men and women. Winners will earn the right to wear the African champion’s jersey for the following season.

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o stated that the event will provide a significant economic boost to the county, benefiting the hospitality, transport, and security sectors. The championships mark the third consecutive year Kenya has hosted the continental event, following Eldoret in 2024 and Kwale in 2025. Additionally, a 20.4-kilometre social fun ride will be held on October 24, 2026, for local residents and families.
