Kit Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult in Harry Potter TV series
Kit Harington has been cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of the upcoming Harry Potter television series. Harington, known for his role in ‘Game of Thrones’, replaces Nicholas Hoult, who departed the production due to film schedule conflicts.
Hoult’s exit follows attempts by HBO to accommodate his pre-existing projects, which ultimately proved incompatible with the show’s production timeline. Harington previously voiced the character in the ‘Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions’ and has expressed significant enthusiasm for the role.
The series is scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day 2026. The character of Lockhart is a famous author in the Wizarding World who serves as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
