Kit Harington to star in ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ miniseries

Kit Harington will star as lawyer Sydney Carton in a new four-part miniseries adaptation of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Tale of Two Cities’. The production, which Harington is also serving as an executive producer for, is set to premiere on September 6, 2026.

Set in 1782 during the period of war between Britain and France, the story follows Lucie Manette, played by Mirren Mack, as she discovers her father may still be alive in Paris. The narrative involves a complex love triangle between Lucie, Charles Darnay (played by François Civil), and Sydney Carton. The plot explores themes of love, betrayal, and the political unrest of the French Revolution.

The series is a collaboration between MGM+ and the BBC. It will be available on MGM+ in several regions, including the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Latin America, while the BBC will also broadcast it in the United Kingdom. The project is directed by Richard Clark and written by showrunner Daniel West.
