Kitale armed robbery: Gang steals Sh1.7 million from couple

Police in Trans Nzoia County are investigating an armed robbery in Kitale that occurred on September 25, 2026. A woman and her companion, Julious Langat, were intercepted in a silver Toyota Fielder near the Village-In area in Sirende Ward.

The assailants, also traveling in a silver Toyota Fielder, allegedly used a firearm and a metal rod during the attack. Langat sustained a head injury. The robbers escaped with Sh1.7 million in cash, which had been withdrawn from KCB Bank and DTB Bank, along with two mobile phones, three ATM cards, and an identification card.

Authorities are investigating the possibility of an inside job, noting that such robberies often follow the leak of transaction information from financial institutions or clients. Investigations are ongoing to identify the gang responsible.
