Kitchen Appliance Guidance: Electric Stoves, Ovens and Air Fryer Placement
Electric stovetops are suited for fast, direct‑heat cooking such as sautéing, boiling pasta or making quick vegetable omelets, where the cook can adjust temperature instantly. Electric ovens provide stable, surround‑heat ideal for roasting vegetables, baking casseroles, gratinating dishes and preparing larger batches that benefit from even temperature.
Air fryers are convenient but must be positioned with safety in mind. They should not be placed flush against a wall because the rear exhaust needs clearance; at least a few centimetres of space is required. They also must stay clear of cabinets or shelves, especially those made of wood, to avoid heat‑induced deformation. Delicate countertops such as untreated wood or marble need a heat‑resistant base. The appliance should never be placed on a cooking plate, near open flames, flammable materials (paper towels, cords) or water sources like the sink, to prevent fire or electrical hazards.
