Kitchen experts warn against keeping certain items near stovetops

Organization and cleaning experts are warning homeowners about specific items that should not be kept near stovetops due to safety and quality concerns. Cathy Orr of The Uncluttered Life and Sara Aparicio from Homeaglow highlight several risks associated with common kitchen habits.

Cooking oils should be stored in a cool, dark cupboard away from heat sources, as they are highly flammable and can cause grease fires if exposed to open flames or high temperatures. Additionally, paper items such as cookbooks and recipe notebooks should be kept in closed cabinets or on shelves away from the cooking zone to prevent fire hazards from heat, steam, or grease splatters. Kitchen towels also pose a risk if they are placed too close to the flame.
