Kitchen fire renders Het Loonsche Land holiday home uninhabitable

A kitchen fire broke out on Monday afternoon, September 14, at a holiday home in the Het Loonsche Land holiday park near Efteling in Kaatsheuvel. The fire started around 5:05 PM during cooking.

Efteling security and emergency response teams attempted to extinguish the flames, but heat and heavy smoke prevented them from gaining immediate control. The fire department eventually arrived and used a water jet to bring the kitchen fire under control. While the fire was contained, smoke spread throughout the entire residence, causing significant damage to the interior and belongings.

German guests staying in the home were evacuated and temporarily sheltered at a restaurant terrace on the park. Due to the extent of the fire and smoke damage, the holiday home has been declared uninhabitable for the time being. Firefighters used an overpressure ventilator to clear the smoke and conducted safety measurements before concluding the operation around 6:30 PM.
