Kitchen remodel showcases modern design trends as interior designer critiques décor

A recent kitchen makeover transformed a cold, lifeless space into a contemporary room using micro‑cement brick walls, a deep‑green colour scheme, gold‑tone hardware and a flexible dining island that can double as a snack bar. The redesign retained the original layout while adding texture with wood‑topped countertops, vintage‑printed rugs and warm lighting.

Interior designer Lara Villarroya warned that many modern homes share bland, interchangeable interiors. In a YouTube commentary she advised against overly visible recessed lights, synthetic leather sofas that become hot in summer and cold in winter, and generic beige décor that lacks personality. She also urged homeowners to replace mass‑produced art prints with pieces that reflect personal taste.
