Kitchen ventilation trends and regulatory requirements
Modern kitchen design is seeing a rise in induction cooktops with integrated extraction systems. These devices combine a cooking zone with a built-in hood, using air inlets located beneath the glass surface to suction steam and odors directly from pots. This setup is particularly favored in open-plan kitchens or islands, as it allows for decorative lighting instead of traditional overhead hoods.
However, installing kitchen ventilation in apartment buildings requires strict adherence to technical regulations. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, hoods must be connected to a separate chimney duct. Connecting a mechanical extractor to a gravity ventilation system can disrupt the building's airflow and may lead to legal penalties or issues during chimney inspections. The State Sanitary Inspection emphasizes that the correctness and tightness of these connections should be verified by a chimney sweep's opinion to prevent odors from spreading to neighboring apartments.
