Kite Hill Care Home issued three warning notices by CQC

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has issued three warning notices to Kite Hill Care Home in Wootton Bridge, Isle of Wight, following an inspection that rated the facility as ‘requires improvement’ overall.

Run by Colville Care, the home was found to be lacking in four key areas: safety, effectiveness, responsiveness, and leadership. The CQC identified five regulatory breaches concerning consent, safe care and treatment, governance, staffing, and a failure to notify the watchdog of necessary information.

Specific failings included inadequate risk management, ineffective staff training systems, and poor governance. Notably, the CQC reported that medicines were not always managed safely, with instances of prescribed doses not being administered and residents being given expired medication. Care plans also lacked sufficient guidance regarding risks associated with diagnosed medical conditions.

Despite these findings, the CQC rated the home’s ‘caring’ category as ‘good’ and praised the facility for its cleanliness, maintenance, and food quality. Alistair Colville, director of Colville Care, stated that the ‘good’ rating reflects the compassion and commitment shown by the staff daily.
