Kithure Kindiki vows crackdown on toxic alcohol cartels
Kenyan Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced an intensified crackdown on the production and sale of toxic alcohol. Speaking at a rally in Kiambu County, Kindiki warned that the government will wage an “unending war” against cartels that adulterate alcoholic drinks with harmful chemicals.
The Deputy President emphasized that the operation targets illicit brews rather than products manufactured according to approved standards. He noted that chemically adulterated alcohol has caused young people to lose consciousness and has linked its consumption to severe damage to reproductive health, which he warned could impact an entire generation.
Kindiki has convened senior security officials to coordinate the crackdown, comparing the mission to previous government operations against terrorism and banditry. He stated that the fight against harmful alcohol is not a political matter and urged politicians to remain uninvolved.
