British Columbia teacher banned from teaching for seven years

teacher ban teacher discipline sting operation Grindr Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools

Carlo Deni Pavan, a former high school teacher with Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools, has been banned from teaching in British Columbia for seven years. The disciplinary action follows a consent resolution agreement released by the B.C. Commissioner for Teacher Regulation.

The ban stems from an incident in March 2023, where Pavan engaged in communications on the social media networking app Grindr with an individual posing as a 14-year-old. Text messages revealed Pavan inquiring about meeting in “somewhere less sketchy” locations and discussing personal preferences during the exchange.
