Kitten survives 800-mile trip from New Jersey to Georgia
A 10-week-old kitten named Jersey survived an approximately 800-mile journey from New Jersey to Georgia after hitching a ride in the undercarriage of a vehicle.
The kitten was discovered by Jadyn Sawyer, a University of Georgia student, after she noticed a leg dangling from beneath her car upon arriving in Athens. The rescue involved campus police and the Cat Zip Alliance. To free the animal, the vehicle was taken to an auto repair shop where mechanics removed parts of the undercarriage to reach the kitten.
Following the rescue, a veterinarian treated the kitten for exhaustion and a mild cold. Jersey has since been adopted by a family in Georgia.
