Kitty Harrison Invitational sees opening day action from Elon and Georgia

The Kitty Harrison Invitational tennis tournament saw significant activity from several collegiate programs during its opening day in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Elon University's women's tennis team achieved several notable results. Cornelia Kack and Iga Piotrowska advanced to the Navy Doubles Draw final after defeating the top-seeded duo from Virginia. Other Elon doubles teams, including newcomers Lisa Dierick and Sonja Thoth, as well as Lisa Kranec and Alexandria Warsing, also secured victories. In singles, Sonja Rooth earned a win against Kansas State.

The University of Georgia Bulldogs also opened their fall season with four singles victories. Aysegul Mert, ranked No. 5, defeated Shona Nakano of Charlotte, while Deniz Dilek secured a straight-set win against Duke's Claire An. Linea Bajraliu and Ava Rodriguez both recorded three-set comeback victories in their respective matches.
