Kiwoom Heroes prospects struggle in loss to Samsung Lions

Kiwoom Heroes' top draft picks, Park Jun-hyeon and Jung Hyeon-woo, struggled during a recent game against the Samsung Lions at Gocheok Sky Dome. Both pitchers faced difficulties, including conceding grand slams.

Park Jun-hyeon, the 2025 first-round pick, was pulled early after allowing five runs and five walks in two innings. Jung Hyeon-woo, the 2026 first-round pick, also struggled, giving up four runs and a grand slam in two innings. Park has notably struggled with control, accumulating 61 walks this season.

Kiwoom manager Seol Jong-jin described the performance as ‘growing pains’ for the young players. He noted that while Park's lack of control and psychological pressure were evident, he intends to give Park one more opportunity in the starting rotation next week. The manager emphasized the need for more aggressive pitching rather than ‘running away’ from hitters.
