KJRI Johor Bahru facilitates repatriation of migrant workers and fisherman

The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Johor Bahru has facilitated several repatriation efforts for Indonesian citizens in Malaysia. On October 15, 2026, the consulate assisted in the deportation of 114 Indonesian migrant workers. This group, consisting of 58 men, 48 women, and 8 children, was transferred from immigration detention centers in Machap Umboo, Melaka, and Pekan Nenas, Johor, following the completion of legal sanctions for immigration violations.

In a separate incident, the KJRI Johor Bahru coordinated the return of Bachtiar, a fisherman from the Anambas Islands, who had drifted into Malaysian waters near Pulau Tioman, Pahang. After his vessel ran out of fuel and supplies, he was located by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) on October 15. Following medical checks and temporary accommodation, he was handed over to Indonesian border authorities on Saturday.

According to KJRI Johor Bahru, the consulate has facilitated the deportation of 4,870 Indonesian citizens across Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Pahang between the start of 2026 and mid-October.
