Küçükçekmece demolition accident injures excavator operator

An excavator operator was injured during a controlled demolition as part of an urban transformation project in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. During the demolition process in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood, a section of the building collapsed onto the heavy machinery.

The operator, identified as Abdullah Araç, became trapped inside the vehicle under the debris. Emergency responders, including police, fire departments, and medical teams, arrived at the scene to extract him. Following initial medical intervention at the site, Araç was transported to a hospital for treatment.

AFAD and fire crews conducted searches of the area using thermal devices and detector dogs to ensure no other individuals were trapped under the rubble. The search confirmed that no other persons were under the debris.
