KKP aims to restore 15.6 ha fish ponds in Padang Pariaman by Sep 2026
Indonesia's Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) announced that the 15.6‑hectare fish‑pond complex in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra, damaged by a hydrometeorological disaster at the end of 2025, is slated for full rehabilitation by the end of September 2026. Secretary General Andy Artha Donny Oktopura said the goal is to resume operations quickly so local communities can return to work and regain economic benefits.
The district government has repaired pond irrigation, while KKP supplied a mini‑excavator, fish seed, feed, boat engines and cooling equipment to accelerate the work. Earlier, the central government provided an excavator to speed up repairs of flood‑ and landslide‑affected infrastructure. Padang Pariaman regent John Kenedy Azis praised the assistance, noting it will help the fishery sector recover and support the broader aim of protein self‑sufficiency.
