Kışla village in Sivas reduced to a single household

Kışla village, located in the Şarkışla district of Sivas, has become a stark example of rural-to-urban migration in Anatolia. Once a settlement of 20 households, the village is now almost entirely deserted due to migration and natural conditions.

Cebrail Gültekin, 55, is the sole resident remaining in the village. Living there for approximately eight years with his wife and six children, Gültekin sustains his livelihood through small-scale livestock farming and gardening. Despite the isolation and the decaying state of the historical homes, the family remains connected to the land.

The village's abandoned state and surrounding natural beauty have turned it into a destination for hikers, campers, and photographers. Visitors often stop by the single remaining household to express curiosity about how life is maintained in such a remote and quiet location.
