Klagenfurt awards Social Prize to JUNO youth shelter

The JUNO youth emergency shelter in Klagenfurt has been awarded the City of Klagenfurt Social Prize to mark its 20th anniversary. The award was presented by Mayor Christian Scheider during a celebration held at the Chamber of Labour.

For two decades, JUNO has provided a safe haven for young people facing difficult life circumstances, including homelessness and a lack of stable family environments. Beyond providing basic necessities such as a warm bed, showers, and meals, the facility offers professional support and empathy to help youth develop new perspectives for their futures.

The organization, which originated as a project of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in 2006, is currently operated by the JUST association (Jugend-sozialarbeit Today). Mayor Scheider described the shelter as an indispensable resource for youth without permanent housing.
