Klagenfurt: Road rage dispute leads to assault and multi-car crash

A dispute between two drivers on the Südring in Klagenfurt escalated into violence and a multi-vehicle collision on September 11.

Following an overtaking maneuver, a 57-year-old driver reportedly expressed dissatisfaction by tailgating and flashing his lights at a 44-year-old motorist. When the 44-year-old stopped his vehicle, the 57-year-old allegedly struck him in the face, knocking out a tooth.

The confrontation led to a secondary accident when a 45-year-old woman stopped behind the parked cars, and a 19-year-old driver was unable to stop in time, colliding with her vehicle. This collision resulted in minor injuries to the 19-year-old and four female passengers (aged 10, 46, and two others) who were transported to UKH Klagenfurt.

During the subsequent police investigation, the 57-year-old, who was reportedly heavily intoxicated, allegedly physically assaulted two police officers. He has been arrested and faces charges of bodily harm and attempted resistance against state authority.
