Klaipėda cruise season ends with record passenger numbers
The cruise season in Klaipėda has concluded with record-breaking passenger numbers. This year, approximately 86,249 guests arrived via 57 to 58 cruise ships, marking an increase of nearly 22 percent compared to the previous year.
Despite challenges such as adverse weather conditions that prevented six ships from docking, the season was characterized by high satisfaction. Romena Savickienė, director of the Klaipėda Tourism Information Centre, noted that the Baltic Sea cruise market is growing by approximately 30 percent. She attributed this growth to the increasing popularity of the region and the appeal of more comfortable climates compared to the extreme heat of the Mediterranean.
The season ended with the arrival of the “Vasco da Gama” on October 14. Other notable first-time visitors to the port this year included the “Sapphire Princess”, “Norwegian Sun”, “Borealis”, and “Rotterdam”. The “Rotterdam” received a high passenger rating of 9.6 out of 10 during its visit.
