Klaipėda District to open kindergartens to diaspora children

Klaipėda District Municipality is launching a new initiative to strengthen ties with the Lithuanian diaspora. Starting in the summer of 2026, children of Lithuanians living abroad will be permitted to attend local kindergartens. Additionally, the municipality plans to provide partial funding for summer camps specifically for these children.

The program aims to encourage the use of the Lithuanian language, foster community involvement, and help children connect with their family heritage. According to municipal officials, this strategy is designed to make the Klaipėda region more than just a holiday destination, potentially encouraging families to consider returning to the area in the future.
