Klaipėda Festival premieres new dance diptych
The VI Klaipėda Festival featured the premiere of a dance diptych at the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre. The performance showcased two distinct choreographic works performed by the KVMT ballet troupe.
Swiss choreographer Marcel Leemann presented ‘Decrescendo’, a piece exploring the tension between the individual and the collective. The work uses traditional and ritualistic movements to illustrate how an individual can disrupt established social orders. The piece utilizes a minimalist set design by Ayse Özel, featuring white objects that gradually disappear to symbolize liberation through emptiness.
Local choreographer Agnija Šeiko contributed ‘Borrowed Landscapes’ to the diptych, completing a program that examines the relationship between the self and society through different artistic lenses.
